  • Orthodontics and Pedodontics highlight the “Blue Path” of lectures

    This world-class event kicks off its “Blue Path” lecture series, focusing on Pedodontics and Orthodontics awarding participating dentists with 20 ADA CERP/AGD PACE CE credits.

    Friday, June 13th – The spotlight will be on Pedodontics, with leading international experts sharing the latest strategies and updates on pulp therapy, state of the art ortho-perio- restorative solutions, the treatment of genetic defects, hypomineralization, and trauma.

    9.00 – 10.00 – Katrin Bekes, Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry of the University Clinic of Dentistry at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria opens the Pedodontic Session with a lecture on “ Chalky Teeth – Diagnosis and Current Treatment Concept in Patients With Molar Incisor Hypomineralization  (MIH)” highlighting the different aspects related to MIH, from its etiology, diagnosis and classification to current treatment options.

    10.00 – 11.00 – Next, Maria Giovanna Barboni, former contract professor in the International MD Program Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy, provides updates in her lecture “Pulp Therapy in the Daily Routine of the Paediatric Dentist: Current Events”.

    11.45 – 12.45 PM –  Following the break Figen Seymen, Chair and Program director at the Department of Pediatric Dentistry of Altınbas University, Turkey and President of the World Federation of Pediatric Dentistry (IAPD) will focus on research and the evidence about Amelogenesis Imperfecta (IA). He will review the genes and mutations underlying AI presenting in isolation from other health problems, the proteins they encode, and knowledge of their roles in amelogenesis, combining evidence from human phenotypes

    12:45 PM – 1:30 PM – Maria El Khoury has a certificate in pediatric dentistry from the Lebanese University in Beirut, Lebanon and an advanced diploma in Pediatric Dentistry from Dental College- Beirut, Lebanon. Having accomplished advanced training at the oral pathology department at Pitié Salpetrière Hospital in Paris she currently is working on a PhD in pediatric dentistry. She owns a private clinic in Beruit, Lebanon. Her lecture will provide updates on  “The Growing Challenge of Traumatic Dental Injuries: Modern Approaches to Diagnosis and Management.”

    4:00 PM – 18.00 PM – The afternoon will be dedicated to the  multidisciplinary Plenary Session beginning with, among the other speakers, Marco Veneziani, contributing author of numerous texts , Reviewer for the European Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, and Fabio Federici Canova, Specialist in Orthodontics, Adjunct Professor at Università degli Studi di Brescia with their lecture “Ortho-Resto: Integrated Orthodontic-Restorative Solutions” ,illustrating the State-of the-Art in orthodontic and restorative rehabilitations, starting from simple cases up to the most complex ones, followed by Daniela Garbo, international lecturer and author of scientific articles in international journals along with Gualtiero Mandelli, Contract Professor in Orthodontics  at the School of Specialization in Orthodontics at the Vita e Salute San Raffaele, will focus on the “Ortho-Perio Approach: Interdisciplinary Planning of  Periodontally Guided Tooth Movement in the Patient with or Without Loss of Attachment” highlighting the importance of an integrated “ortho-perio-prosthetic” flow to facilitate prosthetic restorations and implant placement aimed at ensuring the success and durability of results.

    Saturday, June 14th –  The focus shifts to Orthodontics, exploring the latest advancements in aligner therapy, celebrating over 20 years of progress in this revolutionary treatment that has transformed smiles worldwide.

    9:00 – 9:45 – Renato Cocconi, specialist in Orthodontics, internationally renowned speaker and newly elected President of the scientific committee of the Angle Society of Europe, will discuss Digital Planning: The Common Denominator for the Orthodontic Treatment with Aligners and Fixed Appliances”, discussing how digital planning is the baseline for orthodontic treatment with aligners and fixed appliances, following common criteria and a logical sequence.

    9:45 – 10:30 – Following, Alessandro Greco, Past President of S.I.Te.Bi, author of scientific articles in national and international journals, speaker at national and international courses and conferences, will talk about “Orthodontics with Aligners from 0 to 100 in 20 Yers of Experience”, exploring the use of aligners as a valid therapeutic alternative.

    10:30 – 11:15 – Giorgio Iodice, Vice President 2024-2026 of IBO, past-President of EBSO, past-President 2020-2021 of ASIO, past-President of SIALIGN will explore the “Limits of Aligners: Recognise and Overcome describing clinical workflows to combine aligners and skeletal anchorage in different clinical scenarios.

    12:00 – 12:45 – Ending the session Vincenzo D’Anto, Past President of SIBOS. Associate Editor of AJODO and OCR, author of numerous scientific papers, lecturer in international congresses and currently associate professor at the School of Orthodontics of University of Naples Federico II will intervene on “Orthodontic Treatment with Aligners: From Myths to Reality” defining aligner application scope and providing clear guidelines for their use.

    The official language of the meeting will be English. For those other languages simultaneous translation will be provided. Certificates of Participation will be provided to those attendees making request. Sessions for the entire dental team will also be held so bring them along!

  • Semplificazioni vincenti in perio-protesi, il tema chiave del “percorso rosso”

    [vc_row evenz_container=”1″][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Dedicato alla parodontologia e alla protesi, il Percorso Rosso al 10° Anniversario del Congresso Internazionale in Sardegna (Forte Village, Cagliari, 12-14 giugno), si snoda tra venerdì 13 e sabato 14 ed offre 18 crediti ECM se agganciato alle plenarie di venerdì pomeriggio e sabato mattina.

    Protocolli maneggevoli

    La sessione di perio-protesi, carrellata sui temi d’attualità a livello mondiale, parte venerdì alle 8.45 con Ignazio Loi, docente a contratto all’Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele di Milano nonché ai Master di Protesi all’Università Alma Mater di Bologna e di “Odontologia restaurativa all’Universidad Complutense di Madrid, che discuterà della Biological Oriented Preparation Tecnique, procedura protesica semplificata che permette di affrontare, senza interventi multidisciplinari, casi già trattati protesicamente. Loi approfondirà nuovi concetti che fanno parte della tecnica stessa: invasione controllata del solco, profili emergenti di adattamento, abrasione differenziata. Segue Federico Tirone (Cuneo), fondatore di una delle più grandi strutture italiane di implantologia, con una relazione sui passaggi inutili nei protocolli di riabilitazione full-arch; qui, proporrà un protocollo maneggevole dove la maggior parte dei passaggi è trasformabile in procedure a bassa complessità. Infine Meizi Eliezer, Università di Berna, coautrice dei volumi “Next Generation Biomaterials for Bone & Periodontal Regeneration” e “Understanding Platelet Rich Fibrin” tratterà sia l’uso di impianti dentali come opzione affidabile a lungo termine per sostituire i denti mancanti sia le tecniche utilizzabili per l’aumento dei tessuti molli perimplantari con particolare accento sul ruolo dell’acido ialuronico reticolato.

    Come ottimizzare i risultati

    Nella seconda parte, Alberto Miselli docente a Veracruz, Messico ed all’Università Unicoc di Bogotá, sviluppatore dell’Umbrella Concept – rassegna bibliografica su specifici interventi a favore di estetica e funzionalità – parlerà delle “procedure razionali” per aumentare il volume dei tessuti perimplantari. A seguire, Paolo Bozzoli , fondatore e responsabile scientifico di “Elite Odontoiatrica” e Filippo Tomarelli, docente all’Università G. D’Annunzio di Chieti-Pescara, ed ai Master della Sapienza a Roma e all’Alma Mater di Bologna, tratteranno del ruolo dell’analisi dei volumi dei tessuti del sito chirurgico e della programmazione tridimensionale ottimale del posizionamento nella gestione aggiornata di un impianto post estrattivo. Chiuderanno Cristian Scognamiglio, esperto in estetica dentale ed Alessandro Perucchi, specialista in chirurgia orale con studio a Mendrisio, in Svizzera, illustrando in particolare come l’ossigenoterapia può migliorare la guarigione dei tessuti trattati e mantenere il risultato nel tempo.

    Le plenarie di venerdì e sabato

    Da venerdì pomeriggio, il percorso rosso confluisce nelle sessioni in plenaria. La prima, ore 15-18, è multidisciplinare con Marco Veneziani, Fabio Federici Canova, Daniele Garbo, Gualtiero Mandelli. La seconda sabato mattina (9-13) vede tra i protagonisti maestri quali Lorenzo Vanini e Camillo D’Arcangelo e terminerà dopo il pranzo con la Sessione AIO Academy coordinata dal Presidente e Segretario Culturale AIO Vincenzo Musella.     8:45-9:45 – The Perio-Prosthetic Session begins with a presentation by Ignazio Loi, contract professor at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy and faculty member in the Masters Program of Prosthetics at Alma Mater University of Bologna, Italy and the Restorative Dentistry Program at Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. Loi discussing his “BOPT (BIOLOGICAL ORIENTED PREPARATION TECNIQUE)”, a revolutionary prosthetic approach that eliminates the need for multidisciplinary interventions in pre-treated cases while exploring new advancements within the technique, including controlled sulcus invasion, emerging adaptation profiles, and differentiated abrasion.

    9:45-10:15 – Next, Federico Tirone  from Cuneo, Italy, founder of one of Italy’s largest implant clinics, will discuss “CAN WE OPTIMISE CLINICAL AND ECONOMIC OUTCOMES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE EDENTULOUS PATIENT?” challenging conventional full-arch rehabilitation protocols by identifying unnecessary steps and unveiling a streamlined, efficient approach that simplifies complex treatments into low-complexity procedures.

    10:15 – 11:00 – Closing the session, Meizi Eliezer (University of Bern, Switzerland), co-author of Next Generation Biomaterials for Bone & Periodontal Regeneration and Understanding Platelet Rich Fibrin, will dive into “IMMEDIATE LOADING AFTER COMPREHENSIVE PERIODONTAL AND SOFT TISSUE TREATMENT: A PROTOCOL FOR LONG-TERM IMPLANT SUCCESS” examining the long-term reliability of dental implants for tooth replacement. She will also discuss cutting-edge techniques to enhance peri-implant soft tissues, with a special focus on the benefits of cross-linked hyaluronic acid.

    11:30-12:00 – Following a short break, Alberto Miselli, professor at Veracruz, Mexico, and Unicoc University of Bogotá, Colombia  as well as the developer of the Umbrella Concept, a bibliographic review on targeted interventions for enhanced aesthetics and functionality will present “REASONED PROCEDURES TO INCREASE THE VOLUME OF PERI-IMPLANT TISSUES” stressing the importance of evaluating the peri-implant tissues, bone and soft tissues very carefully before a patient can be considered a candidate for implant therapy.

    12:00-1:00 PM – Next, Paolo Bozzoli, founder and scientific director of Elite Odontoiatrica, joins forces with Filippo Tomarelli, professor at University G.     Alle ore 9.00 aprirà la lectio magistralis sui 12 anni della “community” nel mondo a cura di Angelo Putignano ordinario al Corso di laurea in Odontoiatria dell’Università Politecnica delle Marche e docente di Restaurativa, e di Walter Devoto Socio Fondatore di Style Italiano con Putignano visiting professor al corso di Perfezionamento in Odontoiatria Ricostruttiva Estetica all’Université de la Mediterranée di Marsiglia. Seguirà una relazione di Louis Hardan, presidente nazionale per il Libano della Società europea di odontoiatria cosmetica (ESCD) dal 2020, sulle applicazioni della fotografia in odontoiatria, divenuta standard di cura non solo nella diagnostica, ma anche nella pianificazione dei trattamenti e come documentazione legale e didattica (oltre che materia da trattare con le dovute cautele sui social).

    L’evoluzione in corso nell’imaging – Sarà quindi analizzata la transizione in corso dal flusso di imaging analogico a quello digitale, a cura della portoghese Lisa Fernandes Gonçalves, operativa anche a Barcellona nel Master di Riabilitazione orale dell’Universitat Internacional de Catalunya. Infine subito prima del break, il belga Valentin Vervack, Dipartimento Odontoiatria Ricostruttiva Università di Gent, introdurrà la platea all’uso dei protocolli digitali basati sulle immagini colorimetriche di Optishade, che offrono un metodo costante di corrispondenza dei colori eliminando la necessità di “indovinare” le tonalità corrette dei compositi.

    Focus sulle tecniche – Nella seconda parte della mattinata, Vincenzo Tosco Professore a contratto e tutor clinico ad Ancona relazionerà sull’uso dei nuovi materiali bioattivi in procedure cliniche quali incappucciamento diretto e indiretto della polpa, pulpotomia, riparazione delle perforazioni, e sostituzione della dentina. Zlata Stepanova, titolare della clinica odontoiatrica Loldent e docente all’Università statale di medicina di Rostov, parlerà di proposta estetica e finalizzazioni nei restauri parziali anteriori con l’uso di faccette no-prep e deep-prep, valutando i risultati estetici in base a materiali, spessore della preparazione, scelta del cemento resinoso o del colore del supporto.

    Il pomeriggio “hands-on” con i docenti – Nel pomeriggio, in altra sala, saranno allestiti cinque corner per un massimo di cento posti disponibili: un’occasione da non perdere per imparare ad usare strumenti e materiali, discutendo con tutti gli speakers di Style Italiano. Saranno presentate live demo di 30 minuti ciascuna. I posti disponibili sono in tutto 100; sono ammessi massimo 20 partecipanti per corner, a rotazione.     10:00-10:30 – Louis Hardan, the Lebanese President of the European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry (ESCD) since 2020, will deliver a lecture on the role of photography in dentistry. He will highlight how it has become an essential tool for diagnostics, treatment planning, legal documentation, and education, while also emphasizing the importance of ethical and responsible use in marketing on social media.

    10:30-11:00 – Lisa Fernandes Gonçalves from Portugal will present her lecture, “Anterior Esthetic Rehabilitation: Benefits and Limitations of the Digital Workflow,” exploring the advantages and challenges of integrating digital technology into esthetic rehabilitation. She holds a Master’s degree in Oral Rehabilitation and Dental Esthetics and serves as a professor of Esthetic Rehabilitation in the Master’s Program of Oral Rehabilitation at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.

    11:00-11:30 – Before the break, Valentin Vervack from the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry at the University of Ghent in Belgium will introduce the audience to the use of digital protocols based on Optishade colorimetric imaging. This innovative approach provides a consistent method for color matching, eliminating the guesswork involved in selecting the correct composite shades.

    12:15-12:45 – Following the break, Vincenzo Tosco, didactic and clinical professor in Ancona, will explore the use of new bioactive materials as a replacement for dentin in clinical procedures such as direct and indirect pulp capping, pulpotomy, and perforation repair.

     

    12:45-1:30 p.m. – Zlata Stepanova, director of the Loldent Dental Clinic and professor at Rostov State Medical University in Russia, will discuss key aspects of achieving successful anterior esthetic rehabilitations.     E’ partita la call for abstracts degli elaborati che verranno presentati oralmente durante i lavori. Il poster deve essere originale e in inglese, sui temi del congresso, di massimo 350 parole, accompagnato dalla registrazione alla manifestazione.

    La selezione dei poster presentati sarà effettuata a discrezione di un Comitato Scientifico.

    Le lettere di accettazione degli abstracts verranno inviate all’indirizzo e-mail di contatto degli autori che avranno presentato la domanda, quindi deve essere fornito un indirizzo e-mail attivo.

    Gli autori degli abstracts selezionati verranno invitati a presentare i risultati della loro ricerca in un’apposita sessione del X Anniversario del Congresso Internazionale in Sardegna nella giornata del 12 Giugno 2025.

    Le presentazioni andranno consegnate in sede di evento e tutte dovranno rispettare i seguenti criteri: una durata massima (tassativa) di 4 minuti (più 2 minuti per la discussione); dovranno essere in formato 16:9, Power Point (.ppt o .pptx) per Windows o Keynote per Mac (gli autori/presentatori dovranno comunicare la loro preferenza alla segreteria).     [vc_row evenz_container=”1″][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]You still have time until March 30, 2025, to send in your contribution to the AIO Scientific Electronic Poster Competition during the X Anniversary of AIO International Congress held from June 12-14, 2025 at the Forte Village Resort on the beautiful island of Sardegna in Italy.

    E-posters and abstracts must be original and written in English and based on the topics of the congress.

     

    Abstracts will be presented orally during the e-poster presentations.
    All abstracts must be sent to: aiosardegna@aio.it by March 30, 2025.
    Abstracts will be examined by an AIO Scientific Committee and on May 2, 2025, the Secretariat will communicate the list of selected works.

     

    Letters of acceptance of abstracts will be sent to the submitting authors via the contact e-mail address given when registering for the congress, so a valid email address MUST be provided.     The authors of the selected abstracts will be invited to present the results of their research in a special session of the X Anniversary of AIO International Congress on 12 June 2025.

    The best Poster will be awarded, including a full VIP access pass to participate in the International Congress 2027 International Congress. A second award will be given to the best oral presentation, including an invitation to participate and deliver their winning presentation in the next 13th AIO International Congress.

La sessione hands-on  ( dalle 14.30 alle 18.30) si apre con Grande (“L’uso dei materiali bioceramici di ultima generazione ”) che analizzerà  le differenze tra i diversi materiali sul mercato e ne illustrerà le modalità d’uso nelle varie situazioni cliniche. Invece Cardinali tratterà di otturazione canalare e ruolo dei cementi bioceramici premiscelati nel successo endontico. Tutti i partecipanti potranno eseguire sagomature ed otturazioni canalari.     Style Italiano – E veniamo a venerdi 13. Dopo la sessione Style Italiano che costituisce la prima parte del Percorso Verde (restauri e conservativa) da 18 crediti ECM complessivi, dalle 15 alle 18 i relatori si divideranno in cinque corner per condividere con i partecipanti l’uso di strumenti e materiali e presenteranno live demo di 30 minuti. I posti sono in tutto 100; sono ammessi massimo 20 partecipanti a corner, a rotazione. Nel 1° Corner Lisa Fernandes Goncalves (Porto, Barcellona) approfondirà i “Restauri monocolore”; nel secondo corner Valentin Vervack, Dipartimento di Odontoiatria Ricostruttiva Università di Gent, insegna come usare la guida cromatica digitale Optishade per controllare ceramica, disilicato, zirconia, composito, dente scuro. Nel 3° corner, Vincenzo Tosco (Università Politecnica delle Marche, membro della Società Italiana di Odontoiatria Conservativa-SIDOC), tratta di “Come ridurre la sensibilità nelle cavità profonde dei restauri” con diverse tecniche atte a diminuire la sensibilità nelle ricostruzioni estetiche. Nel 4° corner Luois Hardan (Saint Joseph University Beirut) in tema di Fotografia Dentale Mobile insegnerà come ottenere risultati di pregio con uno smartphone usando la Smile Lite MDP. Infine, nel 5° Corner Zlata Stepanova insegna come realizzare faccette calibrate sui bisogni dei diversi pazienti.

    Rigenerazione parodontale – Sempre venerdi (14- 16.30), è in programma il corso pratico che tratta di “Rigenerazione parodontale nell’epoca dell’implantologia”.  Il corso, che seguirà la Sessione Perio –Prosto accreditata di 18 crediti ECM, sarà a cura di Maria Gabriella Grusovin, italo-svedese, già docente alle università di Manchester e Vita Salute San Raffaele, socia dell’Accademia Italiana Osseointegrazione (IAO). Operando sotto la guida della relatrice, la sessione pratica permetterà di apprendere le varie tecniche, dagli approcci mini-invasivi a quelli che usano la chirurgia muco gengivale.     Protesi Implantare – L’ultimo corso (16.30-19.00) vedrà Davide Farronato, Associato all’Università dell’Insubria, Preside della Scuola di Igiene Dentale e Direttore Ricerca ITEB-Centro di Tecnologie Innovative e Biomateriali Ingegnerizzati, illustrare “Il Profilo di Emergenza in protesi implantare”. Si parla di “gestire il rimodellamento facciale in area estetica” e delle complesse interazioni tra tessuti e impianto, concentrandosi quindi, nell’hands-on, su come trasferire con successo i concetti appresi nel restauro finale.
